America, Distilled

Since I’ve just gotten back from vacation, I don’t have much to post. However, the folks over at Imbibe Magazine sent this over tonight, and it caught my eye. We will return to regular programing soon!

3rd Annual Distillers Festival Showcases 30+ Microdistillers’ Spirits at Gerding Theater Aug 25 – 26

Portland, Ore., August 22, 2007 – This weekend, Portland’s Gerding Theater will welcome the 3rd Annual Great American Distillers Festival, hosting more than thirty micro-distilleries from across the country to sample their spirits and celebrate the craft. Participating distillers will do tastings and seminars. Each floor will be dedicated to a different spirit: Rum, Vodka, Gin, and Whiskey (with a sprinking of Brandies).

There will also be a fun mixology competition with local bartenders displaying their talents and showing us all why Portland is such a fantastic cocktail city. The competition will be judged by famed mixologist Lucy Brennan of Mint/820, Imbibe Magazine publisher Karen Foley, Portland Tribune food & drinks columnist Anne Marie DiStefano and Tim Davey from Uptown Liquors.

Ten 01 will provide food, there will be live music, and part of the event’s proceeds go back to Portland Center Stage. Tickets are $10, which gets you three pours, and then additional pours are $1 each after that.
