Sometimes, once I post a new review, I’ll take a moment to browse sites like Yelp and Citysearch to see what other people think. Sometimes I’ll stumble across a comment that really makes me laugh. Some people really feel passionate about the Bistro I just reviewed. Take this comment:

My flashback started with a little piece about homemade butter on The Splendid Table. mentioned how important the quality of the cream was, and I was reminded of my childhood – stepping out onto the front porch every morning to find the latest delivery from the milkman sitting in a little wire basket. If I got up really early, I’d hear him coming up the driveway, the bottles clinking together

It’s been a while, but good things come to those who wait! News, News, News (and gossip!)

Lots of openings: Cacao has opened their 2nd location, this in the corner of The Heathman. It’s a charming shop in a perfect location (and I almost never use the word “charming”.)

The eagerly anticipated Lincoln Restaurant will be opening on NE Williams this Friday. We hope to have a sample menu posted soon.

According to KGW, River Maiden Artisan Coffee in Vancouver Washington,  has premiered a $15 cup of coffee. Yes, I said $15. For drip. They justify it by saying there is only 8 cups to a 1/2 pound bag, and that it is considered to be the best coffee in the world. The Panama Esmerelda Especial [...]

Updated: Statement from Terroir’s ex-PR firm:
The Willamette Week is reporting that Terroir Restaurant and Wine Bar has closed. Much like Cole, we were not aware of the status of Terroir’s operations as we had ceased representation of Terroir in late ‘07. As an added note, we did not work on the publicity of his [...]

UPDATED BELOW!
We haven’t heard much lately about the follies of accused plagiarist Chef Stu Stein, and his restaurant Terroir, although we’ve heard plenty of rumors that the restaurant is struggling. Regardless, recent posts on Stein’s blog Earth to Table, sponsored by Restaurant & Institutions Magazine, are pretty damming evidence from Stein himself that there are [...]

I’ve only been gone for a few days, yet I am having an amazing trip. Through the magic of unsecured wireless I will write about my adventures as I go along. It won’t necessarily be about food, but I have a feeling both food and wine will be involved.
I am sitting in Parma, Italy, not [...]

Since I have spent some time in the technology field, I’ve been following the progress of OpenTable, the restaurant reservation system for some time. I’ve noticed it growing by leaps and bounds, though its takeoff has been a bit slower in Portland than other places.
As a frequent restaurant patron, I find myself using the [...]

Wildfire Pizza to open at 3925 NE MLK. Talk about a booming area! Toro Bravo, Terroir, Marco Shaw’s seafood place (opening date unknown), and now Wildfire. My question is, where are they going to get all the diners? No, scratch that; I should have said, Where are they getting all the money? None of these [...]
